Father’s Day: celebrate online

Father’s Day is a date to meet again and honor that man who, with his guidance, knew how to teach us and give us tools to become what we are today. This holiday is celebrated in different places around the world. However, its origin in America hides something special.

In the United States, the idea originated during the first decade of the 20th century. It all fell on Sonora Smart Dodd, who had the idea of celebrating a day in remembrance of her father, who was a Civil War veteran.

Sonora was one of six daughters of Henry Jackson, whose wife died after giving birth to her sixth child. People say that during Mother’s Day, Sonora also celebrated a day on which she could honor her father, who, despite the conditions, had raised them with love on a farm in Washington.

At first, the idea was displaced, but slowly, it gained the necessary acceptance so that in 1924, by presidential order, it was promulgated as a national day. In 1966, the third Sunday of June was proclaimed Father’s Day.

Activities to celebrate Father’s Day online

Today, thanks to the advancement of technology, it is possible to stay connected and meet despite the distance. If you are far from your father figure, we have a series of activities that you could do to celebrate in style.

Virtual meetings

Nowadays, there are many online meeting platforms. You can use some of them to organize a meeting and celebrate Father’s Day. You can arrange a meeting with several family members through video calls and promote a virtual reunion that will undoubtedly make everyone happy.

There are several options. At Insiderbits, we recommend trying platforms like Zoom or Skype, which specialize in virtual meetings. However, with WhatsApp and some Telegram sites, you can make calls and add multiple contacts to converse simultaneously. Another option would be to go live from platforms like Instagram and ask them to join your broadcast.

Give gifts online

You probably know it, but you may still need to consider it. Have you thought about sending a virtual gift? There are many options. From electronic cards for Father’s Day to subscription cards for some particular service.

Electronic cards

There are thousands of ways to make e-cards to share with your loved ones. Specialized design platforms offer beautiful and creative template models that you can customize.

To get some options, you could try entering “customizable cards for Father’s Day” in the search bar of your search engine. Once the results are shown, you can try the different options.

Create a memory álbum

Another option for creating a special moment is creating a memory album and sharing it with your father. You should use photos or videos from your childhood. Incorporating photos of your father when he was young is also a good idea. Take advantage of all the images you have of memories and create an excellent album with nostalgic photos and images.

Subscription box

Subscription boxes are a fantastic gift alternative for Father’s Day. You must know your father’s interests and preferences to know which subscription card he wants. Membership options include sports platforms, casino gaming platforms, streaming platforms, and more.

Digital activities

Among the options to celebrate Father’s Day online are those that can be shared in real-time. Many academies offer guided online classes. The possibilities are almost endless.

What would you like to do or share for a few hours? What would be the perfect activity to share with your father during his day? We asked some of the parents on our Insiderbits team, and these are the options they shared with us:

They could participate in virtual cooking classes. Others were inclined to take a class related to an artistic branch, such as painting or sculpture, drawing lessons, or music classes.

If these options are of little interest, you could take advantage of the moment to stream one of your favorite movies together or enjoy a work you both wanted to see. As you can see, there are many things you can do to smile at Dad and celebrate his day in style.
