This helps you cover a longer distance with more ease. And the longer the distance you cover and the more the zombies you kill, the more you will earn from that attempt.
This is kind of similar to what Tom Cruise does in the movie Edge of Tomorrow – making attempts from square one each time to reach closer to the destination.
